This suffragette pin was inspired throughout this entire year. I wanted to connect the women who fought and marched a century ago to the women who fight and march for equality today. I also wanted to commemorate the 100 year anniversary that the 19th amendment was ratified as well as have this pin as a memory of the historic election in 2020.
When researching for the design of this pin, I found that the women who marched would often wear white to stand out in the newspapers against the black uniforms of police, so our suffragette here is wearing white too. I also found a beautiful quote by a British activist named Emmeline Pankhurst that I think paints a beautiful picture of the female spirit. She says,
"I know that women, once convinced that they are doing what is right, that their rebellion is just, will go on, no matter the difficulties, no matter the dangers so long as there is a woman alive to hold up the flag of rebellion."
Each pin measures 1.29 inches on the long side and comes attached to a Click Bloom card with a black rubber pin back and wrapped in a cello sleeve.
